Default Lotus?

Another shot where I'm not sure of the car. I think from the colour of the badge on the original shot that it may be a Lotus of some description, but I'm happy to be proved wrong :-).

I think it safe to say that whatever the car, it's seen a bit of action in its life judging from the front!

Can't tell about the marque, Steve, but I do enjoy the great tones and detail of this image of a battle-weary veteran.

Looking at those screws and the aircraft rivets and I am shaking my head at how automotive racing engineers relied so heavily on brute strength oh not so long ago. Nowadays the seems and joints are taped smooth and the fasteners all lie internally...so much has changed to accomodate aerodynamics.

Thanks.

Steve,
You hunch was correct, it's a Lotus eleven- I spoke with the owner of this car in 2005 and asked why he did not replace the front panel; he said that he wanted to keep the orignal parts as much as possible; this bodywork was made by Williams and Pritchard, who were artists in alluminium. It could be replaced by a replica piece for less than 5k GBP, which is small potatoes to these guys.

I like the way you are being selective with what you include in your paddock images, I've been doing that myself, with mixed success for a few years now, most of the time now I'm happy to let others stand out on the track whist people throw old cars at them.

Cheers,
Pete.

Sgteve -

Yes the tones, details and selective focus all work well. The badge on the nose sure looks like the Lotus badge, and the headlights sure look to be the 11. Thanks, Pete, for confirming it.

Stuart/Pete thanks, I'm trying to get away from the 'Autotrader' style of photography :-). Being serious for a mement, there is usually so much clutter in the background at these events - people and vehicles - that usually the only way to get an interesting shot is to move in close.

Andy, yes they're from Oulton Park. The weather's been so bad that I've been going over the shots I took then.

The metallic toning is almost tactile in nature. Excellent!
