Default Noctilux for Sports

I just ran across this Noctilux photo when looking though some of the old stuff on my web server.

This was f1, E200 at 200iso.

Perception of sharpness is remarkable for F1.0...

Top Notch image.

I think my 30% voucher could well be ending up with a tick in the Noctilux box.

Great action shot Rob, and impressive skill with that lens.

I continue to be amazed at how many people discount the M for this purpose. I've been extremely happy with the MP shooting sports action up close.

Thanks for sharing the photo and the insight.

robert -

Excelent action, light color, detail and exposure. An exciting photo.

When I get my M8 I intend on trying a few shots of basketball with it. It will have higher ISO so I could probably get along with a f2 lens.

Man, I would love to be sitting end-court and shooting with the 28f2ASPH on that camera. That would be terrific.

Could grab the Canon with the 300 on it for when they're at the other end. I see a lot of guys doing something similar with a long lens and a wide at games.

Thanks.

On a Canon 1D which has about the same sensor size as the M8, a 85mm f1.8 was good from either side. This makes me think 75mm f2 or Noctilux again. A 35mm f2 right under the basket would be good too.
