Bo,

I've been eyeing that lens myself Looks like a gem. Beautiful soft tones, very nice DOF. And yes, it will probably take some turning to get it focussed.

Bo -

I very much like the composition and moment. I feel that, at least on this monitor, it needs some increase in highlight slider and a touch of shadow slider, plus some sharpening since the plane of focus is really beyond him. Perhaps like this:

Ivan, Thank you, yes I actually was pretty happy with the low-contrast result even in the spotlight.

Marquinius, Keep eying it, so far nothing have caused me real concern. its a long focus, but surprisingly smooth and light to focus.

Thank you Ece

LOL Enrico, its good fun, and a 1/3 lighter than a noct.

Thank you David.

jplomley, Thank you.

Stuart, you are completely right, I hit the right shoulder. Actually I left it flat because I was noticing how it had held details in the paper which is in the light pool, and also in the shadows, this guy have a hot light over him in the restaurant. This lens is much lower contrast than im used to.

Ben, Thank you sir. Yes Im pretty happy with lens so far. it is a bit long for me though, and I stand by my "demand" for a revised 35mm Noct for the M8 1.3x world.!

Nice shot & a good lens test. It's sure to draw you into the low-light underworld.

I agree that developing ever-faster 50mm's isn't the best strategy for luring M8 users. For an available-light lens I'll probably stay with the 35mm Nokton f1.2.

Bo,

Excellent capture. A classic even though I like Stuart's treatment better. A great subject with wonderful atmosphere.

Very well done. The mood, tones, composition are classic indeed. I have no experience with this lens and have not seen many images....will look forward to more.

I like your tones, composition and detail. I had never heard of this lens but have now explored it on the internet. I have a noctilux and am wondering how they would compare.

Kirk, Thank you, I have been looking at that 35mm 1.2 tempting, but then I still think that both Leica and Voigtlander should make a official 35mm noct as a direct replacement for the 50mm noct for those of us living with the 1.3 crop factor infliction.

Paul, Thank you sir. Yes I kind of like Stuart's version also, just wanted to show the low contrast of the lens.

Thank you vdb, yes it is a new lens for me, I have been avoiding the Noct but could not resist this one at the price. so far it is playing nicer than I had expected.

Thank you Caryl, I have not compared to the Noct yet, but I suspect it compares somewhat to the older versions, Im sure the newer ones have more exotic lens coating and glass resulting in less flare.

William, thank you.

Marie-Louise, thank you, this is a favorite spontaneous spot of mine. no reservation required.

Wednesday was my first day with the new 50mm, I have been putting a few thoughts about it on my website at BoPhoto.com: Voigtlander 50mm 1.1 - ITS HERE...!

Bo, nice picture. I like the smooth and creamy tones of #1. I'd keep it like that. Thanks for the interesting link.
