Default A bit of reportage: Heavy artillery

This was Fleet Week in San Francisco Bay, when the Navy shows off its ships & aircraft. Everyone gets out the sailboat, binoculars, &/or telephoto to observe.

The most prominent kind of heavy photographic artillery was the sort of tan-gray Canon cannon that's featured below. I believe this was the largest caliber of them all.

The second shot needs no title?

Hand holding that monster would NOT be fun!

I have a 7-200 2.8 and it weighs a heap, so that would be really heavy!

Hi David -

He had a 2d body with what I guess was a 70-200, also tan-gray, sitting on the ground (in the straw) by his butt. Probably for when his strength gave out. Maybe it's like like working out in the gym, where you do a certain number of sets with each weight.

Yes - he probably complains
'the lens is not sharp".

And in the end he has a (hopefully sharp) picture of an airplane (I guess? What IS he shooting?) that could be shot just as well with a normal lens if had waited a little longer for it to pass close by.

But then again: this is a fun thread and your report is outstanding.
