Wasn't quite sure which section to post these in but had chance to handle a 21mm 'Lux late on Friday afternoon, on an overcast day in London. I trust you will forgive my clumsiness in technique. All shots M8, 21mm 1.4 @f1.4

Robert,
No, I don't think that lack of skill had anything to do with it! I see exactly what you did and I know that there's going to be some who would love to own this lens.

Funny that I initially thought, "hey, that's what I do with close focus on one end of the frame and motion on the other end, but it sure looks like my shots with a 35 summicron with M7". And then I realized your combination is the digital equivalent.
Very nice. |

Robert, I think these are great. I don't see enough of your work. The last number of months have seen some really terrific images posted by you. I think your experimenting is baring fruit. Please post more often. Your color scheme is way richer than before and the people in your frame are more interesting & often compelling. Thanks for posting.

Wheres Pete?
Think it was a bit of a shame though you didnt bridge the depth of field to the fixed wheel. Friday cyclist I think would have / could have been a cracker in b&w, but maybe thats flash freeze territory? The idea is worth pursuing. The bus option would be a little bit inanimate. Ps ... for a 21 it looks very straight. Bet it is expensive. Last edited by rob_x2004 : 10/07/08 at 02:51 AM. |

thanks for posting these
given how close the poster is, teh bg is not that defocused I think I will definitley have to try the 24 1.4 out extensively before I take the plunge if the narrow dof attainable is not that different from the elmarit then it just won't be worth it |

I think you demonstrated this lenses quality wide open & its ability to handle point light sources (looks to be outstanding!) as well as its OOF quality which is lovely
I have the 21 Elmarit & a 28 Summicron both of which are grand lenses the 24 Summilux is a very tempting lens to me & hope that someone can post some shots similar to these with it if it performs as well as these examples, I may just take the plunge |

Rob Jakal and Artichoke
Thanks for your comments - Rob it is expensive, about GBP 4 000 - freezing the cyclist would have been a great idea - sadly I was only using this lens for a little less than 5 minutes, so I did what I could !!Jakal The oof effect is maybe a bit more obvious than these photos show but it's a compelling lens Artichoke I noticed the point light sources too http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...1mm-1-4-a.html
