Chris -

Imaginative crop that works very well, lovley light, color, detail and communication.
The touch of red on the lips and strap add nicely, especially against the white background and fair skin..

Chris

Fantastic advert for the M8 as a studio camera. Lovely flesh tones and very sharp.

Chris, excellent work. Way too much makeup for me. You could soften that a bit in the dreaded PS. Thanks again for the counseling (loving the Hassy) !

Amazing!, with 'just' an Elmarit. But what RAW-converter did you use?

Capture One, the "old' 3.7 I just can work more easily with that than 4, but it was a straight conversion. Having said that C1 does have default sharpening which I left on. By inclination I am a wide shooter so only have an elmarit-M for the long end, no 75mm which would have been handier, as you can see I was a bit long so went for a creative crop.
Nice to be the only Leica in nearly 40 DSLRs.

The seminar leader said he found 12MP enough and digital medium frame too sharp. I think without the AA filter the M8 does that as well meaning, as Ben says, it really needs softening down in post. I think we are in 'blad softar territory.

Stuart- the model was very experienced which makes a huge difference taking direction so well and counting in a shot to give the eye contact look. Great fun having a go at this studio work.

LouisB - thanks but I have to say framing that close with a 90 was a case of chimp and adjust which the DSLR men didn't do, but I did see them chimping anyway

Ben - We were told heavy make up was std. for fashion as the flash took it down 50% but I agree it seems OTT. I took the 'blad and a bag of lenses but then found they were using a radio trigger from hot shoe and the clockwork 'blad is not up to that. Still then I wouldn't be posting here. Pleased your enjoying it keep a look out for Digital backs dropping now the trade in schemes are being dropped more should come on the S/H market.

Surprised no one has commented on the hair on the dress strap. I thought it showed how sharp we were but also shows how careful and critical this studio work is

Ok Chris, agree with you on 3.7!! Had contact with C1-helpdesk for 4.0 but it did not help. Straight conversion is better with 3.7
