Jon -
Excellent shot, and you've managed to capture a strange malevolence that I see from time-to-time in several different types of orthodoxy. |

Gee, I thought Jesus only Loves. Now that's a BUMMER! Nice work. You should use this kit more often & experiment with the contrast & tonal range to bring out a few features, like Ivan does.

Jonathan, great picture. I like the angle, the composition, the terrific attitude of the subject and the legs at left, on their way to hell.

Jon, excellent capture and I must agree with Frans who remarked, "how sad." Very. |

Jonathan,
The more I look at this portrait the more I am disturbed by it. There is a twisted darkness in this child's eyes that leaves me unsettled. I took the liberty of doing some post-processing using PSCS3, I hope you don't mind. This interpretation reflects how your picture made me feel. You've taken a very powerful portrait. Cheers, Wilfredo Benitez-Rivera Photography |

Everyone seems to see this photo similarly... I don't think that look, which I admit has something sinister about it, something hidden behind it, something menacing even, is anything more than nervousness, unease, awkwardness...he's a young boy from some small town placed in a big (often hostile) city...He shirt simply states a fact...remember, it doesn't say "Jesus Hates Sinners." I took this photo as much for his rigid posture, his cageyness as for his shirt. I know it's confrontational( his shirt), but if he believes it why is that sad?
I think it's pretty brave. Thanks Stuart, Ben, Frans, Martin, Wilfredo and Mark. Wilfredo, your version is certainly sharper and has stronger contrast; I like it. Thanks. JE |
