Wew, ... what shall I say - some picture. Disturbing at the least! Well done!

All the best

I quote all the above!
The color works perfect for this, and add that it also has a cinematic feel to it for me.

Sorry, but I beg to differ.

I find it totally irrelevant whether this picture is lovely, arresting, or whatever. IMHO it should not have been taken in the first place, much less published in an equipment related forum, of all places.

I can imagine a situation where a photographer and a victim of Nazi Concentration Camps come to an agreement about a photograph to be taken - for a specific purpose in the interest of the victim.

Might this be the case here?

I disagree with you on a couple of points:

1) Should not have been taken? Why not? The train is a public space, the subject is not being held in false light or ridiculed in any way. She is obviously not ashamed of what is on her arm or she would wear long sleeves. Finally, she is not identified to the viewer. I think images like this are always important reminders of a horrible enent that took place in fairly recent history.

2) I don't agree that this is an "equipment forum." It is a photography forum, primarily dedicated to the making of images. Certainly, this portion of the forum (Photo Forum) is expressly reserved for that purpose. The single distinction is that images must be made with a particular brand of equipment--but that doesn't make it an equipment forum.

I think these words come from a different place than you claim. Your dry argument of "equipment" tries to mask the fact that this is a forum about PEOPLE. Maybe that should come to your conscious awareness.

The BOLD letters alone have a stamp of deep emotion and importance, well beyond your words. I think you need to look at that on a personal level. There have been many posts in this forum that have included images of people that have been killed, maimed, assaulted, mutilated and otherwise tried to be made other than human. That's part of our heritage, sad as that may be! People are killing other people for all sorts of reasons, all the time, all over the world. There is no place free from this horror! To not talk about it is insane & worse, to deny it's existence.

Although there are Memorials around the globe to the episodic murdering & the resulting holocausts, no memorial can be so eloquent as this woman, alive & living, free to live and to be SEEN. Peace unto you and to all!

I showed this image to my daughter of 17 and my son of 12. I asked them what was unusual about the image. They both, almost in unison, said something along the lines of - "she has a tattoo with a number - concentration camp???"

Yes they are aware of history and this image endorsed it.

It talks of the present freedom and the imprisoned past!

Great image!

This is a great pic - don't be put off by the rubbish about not being ethical to take this photograph. What do we want on here - pictures of nice flowers etc OR proper images that reflect life!!! WELL DONE keep taking pics like this.

This is an excellent and poignant image. The use of color contemporizes the siginficance of the branding.

my daughter marina (13) and myself found a good way to start a discussion about photo and more.

thanks a lot.

.. ...what is your problem... ..
..the picture tells about humiliation, but the picture is not humble, it tells a Story but you can't see the face to hurt a person..
.but you can feel tears in your eyes, looking at the picture....for me perfect done, a "shouting picture" for humaneness....

sorry for my english!...

regards,

Jan
