Actually, I think they are a new kind of helmet for tandem bikes.

Keen observation, Pete. I think his partner got the short end of that deal. He looks a bit done in.

This event is the annual Paddle & Portage race. Contestants paddle a 1 mile course on the lake that is way off in the background, then portage up the hill where our Capitol is located, down the other side to another lake, then finish with another 1 mile paddle. Quite grueling, actually.
