I have been fooling around with the higher ISO settings (640 and up) on the M8 and, contrary to most people opinions, I am finding the ISO levels very useful. The noise pattern may look a bit much when pixel peeping on the computer screen, but is glorious in print. The higher ISO values really do mimic the traditional look of film in prints. This portrait, shot at ISO 640, with a Canon 50mm 1.2 at 1.2 is a beautiful print at 13x19. - rob

Real perfect portrait and thanks for the tip! I only don't understand the Canon lens on an M8?

Lotw,
About the Canon on the M8-- I have a 50 summicron, but wanted something faster; I am not a huge fan of the CV 50 Nokton, and I can't afford a new Summilux or Nocti. However, you can find old Canon 50 1.2 and 1.4's on Ebay very inexpensively. I have found the 50 1.2 to be an exceptional value. --Rob |

Very lovely portrait which is instructive as well. Must try out higher iso settings in black and white. LouisB

A superb portrait study. Love the final effect regardless of how it was captured. A masterpiece., IMO.

Rob -
Gorgeous, most especially for the tonal richness and continuousness, but also for the framing, subject. light, detail and selective focus. |

Rob - I can honestly say my heart skipped a beat when I saw this, that is a jaw dropping piece of work. Stunning model, beautiful focus and the final image is the best I have seen out of the M8 in B&W.
