Ignore my dust and quick processing, but any prefs between shadow exposure vs. backlit? Taken at Coney NYC.

Thanks for any comments, suggestions, recommendations

Joe

I feel the second is stronger simply because it loses the distracting detail of the subsidiary figures, but speaking for myself I probably wouldn't persevere with the image.

If you want to extract something from this image, you need to work on it, not just change the exposure or contrast. There is promising stuff there. You need to take the time to learn something about post processing and image data and control. Check the forum and you will find many posts to start you on you way.

Of the two I prefer the first. I agree with Ben and Ivan, and like what Ivan has fished out of the image. I also suggest removing the dust spots (and doing other changes) before posting -- We'll still be here.

Thanks for the comments. I had tried the vert crop previously, since I too felt that best expressed his height, attitude and swagger, but I didn't like removing the Coney Island context symbolized by the parachute drop and boardwalk crowds. The backlighting was an attempt to "have it all" while minimizing the clutter.

....Back to the drawing board with your suggestions in hand.

PS - On a side note, without a reference point to show scale, any other tricks of the trade to express height in a person? Taking a low shot with someone towering over seems cliche to me. Although maybe taking an even higher shot showing the taller person above the shorter people?
