Hello jmr,
a very good portrait, very living! only a bit over-sharpened, and a bit too dark on the left side (the eye). And I wouldn't crop ...

John, you have posted a very strong and dramatic portrait. Perhaps I would have tried to remove that linear shadow on his cheek.

I'm pleased with the shot as, for all its technical imperfections, it's a good likeness of both his image and his spirit.

Obviously don't know your father but it exudes a personality...Makes me realise I have to capture many more.

Thanks, the photo was taken in 2001 using my first digital camera, a Leica Digilux 4.3. I still have it and thought it a good little camera, although I prefer the Digilux 2 I now use.
