Bret -

Superb subjects, "crop", tonal gradation and selective focus. Very appealing. I feel it is a bit flat and needs some post processing. Did this start as color? was this in the general area of Ankgor? Please see below.

The boys were in the grounds of the Angkor Wat temple. I prefer the original creamy version too much contrast almost changes the composition...? As shot in camera 320 ISO b/w jpg uncropped. Brett

Brett, lovely portraits. I agree with your choice. The scar on the boy's forehead is more subtle and there is more warmth & air in the original. Let me add my welcome aboard to the forum. Based on this image you will make a substantial contribution here and I'm anxious to see more. Thanks for this wonderful post.

Thanks for the welcome Ben. Sometimes I wonder if this new glossy iMac screen has influenced my judgement but then I always did prefer grade 2 rather than 3 !

When I was there I dubbed all these kids (who I assume were trying to sell you something as everything to eat or drink around the Angkor complex seems to cost $1) the Cold Drinks Posse. "Cold Drink Mister? You buy from me alright not inside I see you when you come back look for me."

Great image Brett.

Excellent composition and angle of pose.

I do think Stuny has a point, but maybe just a tiny uplift will do it. Always difficult to be subtle when the Forum doesn't have the full file available.

Welcome and see you some more hopefully.

Thanks Rolo

I'm sure I'll get the hang of it when I get Photoshop...! Thanks for the other comments too I'm trying to optimise subtle tones for web upload.
