Emma is adorable, but these images need some post processing to give them more tonal range and contrast. In the example below I've done that, plus cropped it and sharpened it a bit. Working from the original image, you can do better than I did.

had to scan the prints as the hour lab scratched my negs something nasty.

They probably could use some post processing, the film was kodak 400 cn, scanned from the print, then greyscaled, then I adjusted levels and contrast... snow is always a difficult balance for tonality.
