Louis Posted December 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) My 109 had its first party at Washington DC! It felt very comfortable and behaved well! It was a very dark environment and I had to use the little flash that came with the camera quite often. I do not like using flash much in this kind of situation as the it burns away the highlights and the fix is not always possible!... Also, of course the size! No way to put it in a pocket when dancing slow!... LOL Welcome, dear visitor! A miller Posted December 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2014 very nice, Louis. I especially like the one toward the end with the motion,. I would encourage you to slow down the shutter and play around with panning and motion. I'll bet that you'd get some really unique results. Louis Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted December 23, 2014 Jim, Mark, George, Stuart, Adam and Brent, Thank you so much for your kind feedback. George, You are really too kind; thank you so much for your encouraging words that I really very much appreciate.. A very Happy New Year to you, too, my friend! Stuart, Your kind words are very much appreciated. It was one of those crazy times in DC! Adam, You can for sure have some fun with this technique. I used to often fool around with that during my film years! . Brent, This camera is lots of fun, indeed. Unfortunately I haven't had yet the chance of using it often and I still have so much to learn about it. If only the manual was more practical!... Louis Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted December 23, 2014 Louis - I want to be invited to your parties!!!! Dear Sharookh, thanks very much for your kind feedback. You are invited, my friend; but you must promise the confidentiality and no camera!... This is Washington DC after all and everyone has to "appear" politically correct!... Excellent scenes, like stills from a movie. I love the flash, too. Nice work! Thanks very much! I was actually very surprised how this little flash performed. It was the first time I was using it and I was not sure of the result I would have! hi, a big photographer with a little little flash, super. thank you. best regards, klaus-michael -mike- Mike, it's very kind of you and thank you for visiting! XVarior Posted December 24, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 24, 2014 As I said on the other forum, I like the use of flash very much here specially with the atmosphere seen at the party which look like a time capsule events from the 40s or so. I've used the XV's flash so many time in similar situations, just set the flash to Fill mode, and probably dial the strength a bit down but the big trick I discovered and that works like magic is to use higher ISO in combination with filling flash, Everything becomes evenly lit with little "flash" effect on near subjects, I've developed a particular tendency to use flash with ISO 3200! A fantastic mode to use that I recommend you guys to try out.
StS Posted December 24, 2014 Share #13 Posted December 24, 2014 I didn't know they had digital in the 1920s. Looks like a great party, quite unique look. No way to mistake the pictures as film based (especially nr 4 and 5). Stefan

Louis Posted December 24, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted December 24, 2014 Rodrigue, Stefan, Dopaco and the kind friends with thumbs up, that you so much for your very kind feedback. Rodrigue, I very rarely use a flash and when I do, it is always on "Fill". But the problem with 109 is that it seems it doesn't give that option; or if it does, I can't find it!... The manual and the menu of this camera really suck!... I wish some people with common sens could write the manual of this excellent camera! Louis Posted December 26, 2014 Author Share #19 Posted December 26, 2014 Ben, Ali and Ece, your kind feedback is very much appreciated; thanks a lot for your time and Happy Holidays! Ece, thanks so much for your encouraging words; but honestly there is so much I should learn about the very interesting features of this nice camera. But if only the manual was more friendly and more clear!.... I am just using it in a simplest way, like with any other camera!...
