RITskellar Posted December 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems as though my transition from an all film workflow to a mostly digital one over the past year, has been a tedious and frustrating experience at times. I think I'm gaining some more comfort with it, but it's slow going. I thought I'd share a few images from a current series on cyclocross racing in Texas. I've been practicing a lot as I have a big event coming up in a couple weeks and I need to get more efficient and confident. Happy to hear any similar experiences or critique. web gallery - http://www.davidhazy.com/projects/2014_txcx Thanks! Welcome, dear visitor! robert_parker Posted December 20, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) Hi Andy These come across as really good reportage and great examples of 'capturing the moment'. I particularly like the framing, which adds a dynamism to the images. I particularly like the way that you've adapted the medium of the forum to make for a nice presentation. Really like the website too. As an aside, unless I'm very much mistaken, I believe I have your Dad's 1.5 Summarit, which lives safely and well looked after here in the UK and hops onto my 111f Red Dial and digital cameras from time to time . Welcome to the forum!! Edited December 20, 2014 by robert_parker
RITskellar Posted December 20, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted December 20, 2014 These come across as really good reportage and great examples of 'capturing the moment'. I particularly like the framing, which adds a dynamism to the images. Thank you for noticing the framing. Composition/framing is something I obsess over, both in camera and in post. I believe I have your Dad's 1.5 Summarit, which lives safely and well looked after here in the UK and hops onto my 111f Red Dial and digital cameras from time to time . Good to hear! I believe I once owned that or another one of my dad's old Summarits. Perhaps I sold this to you some years ago? Maybe sometime around 2006-08?
XVarior Posted December 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted December 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nice reportage shots, As a cyclist I feel them all. Regarding merging from film to digital, isn't the opposite way that should be difficult!
Hank Taylor Posted December 20, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 20, 2014 Andy, welcome, Frankly, I liked them all. The first is diffently a keeper. Expect to see more of your work Hank
robert_parker Posted December 20, 2014 Share #9 Posted December 20, 2014 Good to hear! I believe I once owned that or another one of my dad's old Summarits. Perhaps I sold this to you some years ago? Maybe sometime around 2006-08? Exactly right Ps. My favourite image in the set is #5 (bottom left) which for me is a first rate head and shoulders portrait. StS Posted December 20, 2014 Share #10 Posted December 20, 2014 I'd go for #1 and #5 as well, excellent reportage and black-and-white work. You certainly have a handle on the work-flow. I agree about the tedious digital work flow, one of the reasons I still stick to film, when feasible. Stefan
