Adam,

A strong set indeed. Your photos, choice of frame and colour render well the intensity of the situation. For sure, there is often not much choice of light In this type of event, but you made a lot with what you got. The first and third are my favourite.

Many thanks, Alexander. The first is my clear favorite. The woman with the megaphone was quite attractive, which was slightly diminished by how angrily she was yelling. For a moment, I thought that she was yelling so hard that she was foaming from the nose; but then I looked closer and discovered that it was merely a nose ring :)

Thanks, Steve. I also like the first the best. As for the light this time of year, I think it is both good and bad. Good when it's actually visible on the street out and bad when it is not b/c it is hidden due to the angle of the sun and the concrete-walled world in which we live. There wasn't a cloud in the sky this morning and yet I couldn't find any sun-filled streets on my way to work due to the particular area of Manhattan in which I work.

true .... but i just meant the latitude between dark and light, chances are most if not all sensors would've blown the highlights in the first picture. not trying to start a roue here. just noticed the other day in central park shooting digital and film and seeing what came out.

Gotcha, now I understand where you are coming from.

The pushing of the portra is quite evident here due to the heavy backlighting, which necessitated the crushing of the shadows. In this case I think the extra contrast was rather effective..
