A Portrait of Ben

Ben and I had lunch today in the hood. It was great meeting-up with a veteran forum member in our ever evolving Harlem. Most of you on this forum will recognize him.

Cheers!

Wilfredo, it was a genuine pleasure to spend time with you. I look forward to many more such enjoyable meetings. I also want to publicly mention the launch of The Harlem Camera Club! My wife & I have been working hard to birth this new endeavor. Hopefully, we can get as many of the LUF members and others interested in image making to join us both in NYC and other venues!

Wilfredo, thanks for the portrait! It looks just like me. :D

For anyone that wants to learn more about the Harlem Camera Club, here's my email address: ben@nysity.com

More to come!

Really nice portrait Wilfredo - only thing is, you should have shot it with an 80mm so that only 2mm of the end of Ben's nose was in focus....:p

LOL, you gave me a good laugh. It took a few shots to get this one. I wasn't happy with the first shots, when I finally saw the shot I wanted I asked Ben not to move. I think in part it was due to good conversation about lenses, psychology, and Buddhism. I hope the Harlem Camera Club gets off the ground. I trust it will!

Do you guys accept intruders from abroad in your Harlem lunch ? :D

As I really enjoy seeing the pictures that both of you are posting here, it will be my treat ! ;)

Intruders welcome! Let's do it!

Europeans have a fascination with Harlem. There are a few restaurant establishments

here with French names I have yet to try out. BTW, I often see small groups of private tours on my block being lead in different languages. The face of Harlem is changing with gentrification but it still maintains its character. I enjoy the mix of people here, but it does raise the anxiety levels of lower income people who are gradually being pushed out. By the same token, there is a healthy Black middle class presence here of people who live in beautiful Brownstones, and are holding on to them. I wish I could afford one!
