A miller Posted October 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) From a recent trip to Jerusalem last month in which I brought only my MM and 50mm summilux ASPH. I used a yellow filter given the yellowish/orangish tones in the stones. C&C are welcome. Best, Adam #1 Welcome, dear visitor! XVarior Posted October 15, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) What a beauty. Glad those places are not restricted to photographers at least worshippers don't get disturbed by cameramen among them. You can't go wrong with that 50 with is a delight. Dis you missed a 35mm, I don't know if it's me alone but, I can't feel complete without a 35 ;-) also would like to know why you used the yellow filter A. Number 1 is my favourite. Thanks for sharing. Edited October 15, 2014 by XVarior
stuny Posted October 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted October 15, 2014 An excellent set. #1 is my favorite.
A miller Posted October 15, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 15, 2014 Sincere thanks, Lami, Mark, XV and Stuart. Thanks for stopping by. XV - 35mm is no doubt a great travel lens (and all-around lens in general). But this trip was a special family occasion and I knew that I was going to be taking a lot of family shots. The 50mm lux asph is a special lens for this. As for the yellow lens filter, I observed that the the stones of the Western Wall and surrounding areas (including even the prayer shawls, many of which haven't been washed in years:eek:) have yellowish tones, and I thought that a yellow filter would give a pop to the light tones in the stones as well as the faces of the people, which could slightly enhance the contrast right out of the camera. If I recall correctly, I used an orange filter for the last shot, which was taken about 2am. Thanks again for the kind remarks, and I'm very happy to hear any PP suggestions. topoxforddoc Posted October 15, 2014 Share #9 Posted October 15, 2014 Adam, This is an excellent set. My favourite is the last image. It has a slightly surreal look, with two halves, the people and the wall with a ghostly line in the middle.

Best, Adam You're right, the 50 lux breaks the rules for focal preferences due to its charming character, really hard to leave behind :-) Regarding the yellow filter, I just missed the fact you are shooting with the MM, now it all makes sense again to me. :-)

sblitz Posted October 17, 2014 Share #16 Posted October 17, 2014 nice! I remember being there in 1981, sexually integrated and not quite as run by the hats. Also remember walking up to and visiting the dome of the rock on top. Love the last shot the most
