Absolutely a real thing. In the pre-1966 car park at the Lavant Straight Members Enclosure last Friday during the Goodwood Revival. They were happily perched atop the Rolls, watching the Sussex Trophy race as the sun went down.

When you see something like this, you realise why this is one of my favourite weekends of the year. You have to get into the spirit of it by dressing up, but even that's fun. Then you are rewarded by being taken back into time.

I am going to try to get down on the Saturday next year.

Access to the Members Only car park, where this shot was taken, is obviously not available to the hoi-poloi like me :)

Andy,

You should come for the whole weekend. We stay at glorious Butlins in Bognor Regis (25 mins and a £25 cab ride). It ends up being a weekend picnic party with dinner each night and lots of fun. :)

Brenton, Bill and Adam,

Thank you very much. It was lovely to see this. A bit off the beaten track for Goodwood, as most people would have been around the main straight and turn 1 (Madgewick). This was on the other side of the track.

As for the leopard, at least they didn't put an apple in its mouth!
