Default Disabled Blockade

...at the Thompson Center.
A reason why I always have my camera!

I went to the thompson center to get some prints on my break at work
around 3:30pm...
When I went to leave I was held "hostage" by protestors from this group
called A.D.A.P.T.

(From the Chicago Sun-Times)
...After a protest that eventually closed the Thompson Center Tuesday,
disabled activists and Gov. Blagojevich's office agreed on plans they
say will help move the disabled from nursing homes to community
settings.

Protesters initially blocked elevators and escalators inside the
building. By Tuesday afternoon, more than 200 demonstrators shut the
building down completely by blocking doors with their wheelchairs,
including the entrances to the train station. The blockade ended about
5 p.m. when the governor's representatives agreed to some of the
group's demands, which included proposals Blagojevich's office said it
had already planned to carry out.

Activists want the state to spend less money sending disabled people
to nursing homes and other institutions. The money saved, they say,
should pay for assistance programs that would enable disabled people
to live in their own homes.

Since I couldn't leave...I walked around and took a couple of shots
Luckily work was understanding!
Check out the COOL dog on the last shot with the lady about to run me over!

Thanks for looking! and C&C welcome!

Lovely set of images Amado and it seems that their protest can be justified.
In fact...your last shot takes #1 place IMO...really cool looking dog
Lovely framing and tonality throughout.

Amado -

As so frequently happens, I'm in complete agreement with Ivan.

I am in full agreement with Ivan and Stuart.

Excellent set of pictures with the last one being #1 for me also.

Great pictures, I really like number 3 at the bottom of the escalator, which seems to highlight their situation.

Thank you all for the encouraging comments!
I found it a bit difficult to approach this at first, but got over that as I started clicking.
Thanks!

Amado,

I'm in agreement with all that has been said - excellent rapportage and I also particularly like the combination of humour and menace of the last one! I hope they succeed in their protest.

Great series of shots. You wouldn't want to meet the last lady down a dark alley at night!

Thanks Charlie!
I don't know that I would want to get in her way either, but there were witnesses this time.
