larsv Posted April 9, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Your comments and suggestions are very welcome. Thank you for looking. Not sure about the harsh contrasts, but I like it, kind of. Still need to find a way to get the upload version right. No problem with M9, it happens since the purchase of the M. Tried it by first downsizing and subsequent sharpening and the other way around. So far no luck. Lars Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted April 9, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2014 A fun shot which I must look at again on a better monitor before I can make any definitive recommendations. Even so I'd be tempted to make two versions. One with the foreground and background in similar contast, and one much like this, but with the skin tones lighter to make it seem less flat.
Stefan2010 Posted April 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 11, 2014 Hi Lars, great scenery, really nice shot! My guess, with the white point in historgram shifted from 255 over the flat area to 193 the tone are improving. Hope you don't care if I show the result: Welcome, dear visitor! robert_parker Posted April 11, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 11, 2014 Yes, I think the background, being a photograph itself, put the original histogram out. It's an interesting image with lots of stories to tell
StS Posted April 11, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2014 Excellent concept, very well depicted. Stefan
wda Posted April 11, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 11, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Quite apart from the tonal similarities, the three figures are visually close together and competitive. I wonder whether a step or two to the left would have improved the composition?
larsv Posted April 11, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted April 11, 2014 David, thank you. I can see your point. Question in my mind is: wouldn't that tell a different story?
wda Posted April 12, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 12, 2014 David, thank you. I can see your point. Question in my mind is: wouldn't that tell a different story? Possibly. But I thought in terms of a very subtle change in position without disturbing the relationships unduly.
allamande Posted April 15, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 15, 2014 Lars, The first version works well for me as the two segments of the story are individuated clearly and yet they also work well together delivering the punch line. Nice and clever work. Ece
