Well the title says it all ! I usually don't portrait Homeless people on the street, but when I was walking home yesterday evening I saw this poor guy hiding his head behind the sign and his hands reaching out for help.

Ralph McTell:
"STreets of London" ...In our winter city, The rain cries a little pity For one more forgotten hero And a world that doesn't care.... this song dropped after looking into my head - strong pic! Bernd

Very powerful indeed. Did you consider zooming in on the sign and hands, isolating the rest? I also avoid shots of the homeless but this image is compelling. The homeless person in question remains anonymous, reflecting the reality of the homeless, people most of us would prefer to think don't really exist.

Brent,
There are a lot of people just a few pay checks away from being homeless. It can happen to anyone especially as the gap between the wealthy and the working poor continues to widen. I'll be cooking tomorrow for the homeless at my church, many of our guests can't seem to find their way out of homelessness, even when they find work. We live in a very strange world, it is the way of neo-liberalism and global economies. Wilfredo+ Benitez-Rivera Photography |
