Default Still life by chance

Cleaning up the counter in the kitchen I found that the wife had left the fruit in an inspiring position. Just bought myself a new tripod and I wanted to capture this in the available light, so a happy coincidence.

Louis,

nice fruit - more than your "daily 5" there if I'm counting correctly

Would a dark background show the colours of the fruits more vibrantly? Also the papers are distracting...

I take photo's like this all the time and I'm impressed with yours. So, maybe someone else saw the papers. Not me, I saw the good lighting and correct colors and the sharpness of your image. I say good job.

I also noticed your title and read your brief intro as to how the picture came about. Sounds about right to me. Please tell you wife that I said she did a good job placing the fruit.

I'm also a painter at times. Perhaps if you were going to set about painting this image you probably would have removed the papers. That'as the thing about the brush, it is time consuming but that time can also be used in observing. But in "hey look at this, it's really nice and I think I'll make an image out of it" that cameras are capable of, it's perfectly correct to leave it as you noticed it.
Afterall it was nice enough as it was. Yes I think it was.

John, Ravi and Peter

Thanks for looking and takin the time to comment, it is much appreciated. I did think long and hard about the background and even about repositioning the display.

But what I wanted to do was to capture the spontaneity of discovering that by chance my wife had created a classic still life without thinking about it. Hence the reason why I left the reminders of everyday domesticity in the background.

In fact, I actually prefer the version below but I reckoned that it would be too cluttered for most people's taste.
