Thank you for such a complimentary request! I had to go back in history a bit to find the originals of my two grandchildren. What I have to offer is more a story than a 'workflow'. For the kid pics I was using my friend's M8 - he was out of the country and had it delivered to my house. I had not used a Leica for a long time and had to get used to it all over again. The swing photo is a jpeg straight out of the camera! Cropped a little, but that's all. It was a late spring afternoon and she was moving in and out ot the best light. I shot at ISO 1250 at 1000th. Lens??? The workflow secret was shooting a jillion shots, afternoon light, and a happy child. The grandson original (also a jpeg) was very flat. In Lightroom I uped the exposure +.65 and added brightness and contrast, then sent it to CS3 for a Levels and Curves adjustment (key point: use Luminosity Mode for these two layers) These photos, a few others, and my friend's return to the States made me decide to buy an M8 of my own ) Up to that point I was shooting BW as straight JPGS - but the big time camera salesman told me to shoot raw and convert. So - the landscape was shot with my brand new camera in RAW and converted in Bridge. I adjusted everything, half stop exposure, brightness, contrast, recovery, etc. and desaturated. All in Bridge. Then opened in CS3 and did the Levels and Curves (luminosity mode). That's pretty much it.Those early photos just knocked me out. The M8 continues to delight. I've never been too techy of a photographer - hated dark rooms and had no talent for BW. So I am rather amazed by the grace of images made w. the M8. The real secret to working w. this camera is to find great light - the sensor, lens and my fast hands do the rest. Color jpegs are rather horrid but I think the BW's are good. My workflow with this camera is dead easy because if its right - everything will be fine. I added another photo - straight from the camera jpeg - me not knowing much. Impossible to resist such a camera Hope this is useful. All the best, Linda |

Linda, thanks for the info.
I agree about the character of the M8 images, particularly yours. I'll add a shot of my granddaughter over the weekend (and pretend it's not #4). BTW, there is a funny thread in Barnack's Bar about phogoraphy geek jokes.

When is the cutoff date for submitting photos? How long after that will it take to publish the book? I am quite excited about having some of my photos published!
