nice clean up, but looks flat with all the color gone (and there WAS real redish cast in real life)
there are two things going on-the fringing due to sensor and normal spectral colors and specular reflections. Actuially, I think the middle one took too much out. I would be tempted to stick with the first one, but the scattered reflections are distracting. The middle one has colors different from fringiong (I can see in the difference at 100%) I actually did the fringe reduction twice, in different color bands. The remnants are mostly just sunset red. Yep, you're right, better colours could be optained using the original dng, but i guess here there's something to do with WB too... that's where i rendered the colour a little bit colder, giving the sense of a desaturated range.

i need to go back to the dng as well
th WB is off, but I sort of liked the eerrie greenish look. the sea gets a funny look at sunset, you can see it in the other image now, i have a yousend it account so i will send and post the link here YouSendIt - Send large files - transfer delivery - FTP Replacement it is maddening. I ALWAYS shoot raw. But somehow, when changing ISO I must have accidentally changed the 'USer Profile" and it shot JPG! I caught that night in the hotel, but too late. It is just the way! That is why it is so difficult to change the WB. The resolution doesnt bother me, but without the raw, there is no information to help the file. So anyway, try what you will. regards Victor

I'm very uncertain about which mountain pic to include in my set...I want absolutely to have at least one , but find hard to choose... three are "standard" views, the last is a sort of self-portrait of my and my daughter while climbing... which one do you people prefer ?

@victor:
With only jpg pictures, it's almost impossible to make a good work. Your last post could be named "mission impossible 2" with my limited ability to PP. Anyway this is the best result that I could reach with the courageous seagull: |

Maurizio
Yes, a noble effort, but of over 500 images shot that weekend, only the ones at the beach wound up jpgs. It may have been the backpack and fumbling that changed the setting. Can't do anything now. However, in some it came out fine I would still stick with the second of mine; only fringe taken out but the red light spectral scatter stays. Regards PS some were better behaved. too bad boat wasnt larger! :-)

Luigi, I find the dramatic nature of the second shot very compelling. On my screen there is lots of detail in the snow of the "self portrait" but it probably won't show up on the book.
I wouldn't mind climbing in those hills now and then. We have a very close friend who was born in Austria, lived in the States, and moved back to Lugano, Switzerland to be near the Alps again. As it happens she will celebrate her 100th birthday on the 27th. We have walked parts of the Swiss Alps with her many times. Best regards,

Bill,
If possible I'd like to swap this picture for my third picture showing the snaking neon light in post #253 please. (I swore I'd post and leave it alone but I've only just shot this one.) Pete. The Lovers

Here are the replacement photos for my previous post:
Noctilux @ f/1.0, no IR filter ![]() 35 Summicron @ ? but probably f/2.0, IR filter ![]() Noctilux @ ?, no IR filter ![]() I'm not sure if it is OK to add 2 more photos to reach my 3 max, but if not, then just the nun photo to replace the photo in the original post. Thanks again Bill for taking care of this. Let me know if you need any help or additional info. Take care.

Am I still on time to give three images?
If so how can I give the images to you? Sorry for the last minute rush... my mind was down south. Last edited by mustafasoleiman : 06/06/08 at 01:48 PM. |
