Don't worry Haya, the Nokton is one of the finest 35, just a little flare prone, but it has other great qualities (bokeh?) and I think you won't regret the choice.
Then again, the summarit may be your next step, i can see nothing wrong in owning two different lenses in the same focal lenght (especially if it's the length in which you're more comfortable).

The reasons can be f/2 and contrast as well, Ruben. The Summarit looks more contrasty at first glance, which may pose problems with digital cameras. Blown highlights are easy to avoid with the 35/2 IV as well as other wides of same vintage like Summicron-C 40/2 or pre-asph Summilux 35/1.4 among others.

The 35 Summarit is not a high contrast lens. Contrast is somewhere between IV and ASPH. On an M8 it is perfect and blown highlights are not a problem.

The IV may be an f2 lens but I rarely used mine below f2.8 due to veiling glare and low resolution. The Summarit is superb at f2.5 (really f2.4). And flare and bokeh are both better with the Summarit.

I agree...not pleasing at all.

As I said earlier, I would like to see images from other f2 or so lenses showing bokeh with harshly lit backrounds. No response received to date.

What exactly do you find harsh and distracting, I wonder? To some degree, bokeh is a subjective thing, but would like to be able to correlate subjective assessments to objective facts.

I absolutely agree Michael. Bokeh is very subjective and I have asked for sample images in similar conditions to better understand what these posters consider to be "pleasant bokeh".

This thread by Guy Mancuso is helpful because it shows the Summarit's bokeh relative to the "King of Bokeh" 35 Summicron IV:

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...tml#post406747

I prefer 35 Summarit's bokeh to that of my Summicron ASPH and IV (now sold). It is not troubled by specular highlights and brightly lit fine detail, like foliage, in out of focus areas. And it is very consistent across a variety of lighting conditions.

Looking forward to some images from Samir and Andym911.
