Steam bakery? Can anyone tell me what that is/was?

Cheers,
Pete.

I would suggest that it could be a steam-powered bakery delivery truck. Whatever it is, it is beautifully restored.

I typed 'steam bakery' into google, and lots of sites came up. Steam bakeries were very common. On this site, Bakers Ovens, there is the following explanation:
You may have seen the words 'Steam Bakery' on a baker's van. It takes its name from the method used to heat the oven. Steel tubes containing water are heated by either gas, coal or coke, or by oil until the steam rises to a temperature of 500º F. This heat is more than sufficient to bake the bread to a lovely golden-brown colour.

So I suppose that is what it was.

Charming vehicle, by the way.

There were several other steam lorries at this gig, I'll see if any more are worth posting.

Thanks,
Pete.
