Default Franken-Leica

Put a Canon 50/1.4 on my Leica III (F).
Taking it out this weekend to see how it feels and works.
Anyone else tried this combo?

We used the Canon Lens on Leica 111 series cameras for Reportage work quite extensivley during the early 50's as it was much faster than the Elmar & Summar which were difficult to obtain and very expensive in Melbourne. There were no real problems and the film was usually Tri X. If I wanted photographs for myself I would use the Elmar at f5.6 and process the film myself for better control.

That is quite a large diameter lens. Do you get cut-off in the viewfinder?

David, yeah the lens and hood obstructs about 50% of the viewfinder. The solution will be an external 50mm finder.

I'm going to post some updates here: http://silfver.blogspot.com

i use a canon 50 1.2 that looks like that one, same age. i really like its look. more subtle than the fast leicas. less of the famous glow. but nice in its own way...b
