Al,

the C-Lux is a surprisingly good little camera - my top tips would be:

- leave it on 80ASA as the higher speeds are noisy;

- give the Image Stabilisation a chance to help you get shots you otherwise wouldn't attempt - 1/4s is possible much of the time;

- try the B&W setting, it produces good rich images;

- watch out for flare when shooting into the sun - especially in colour when the colours may wash-out;

- try the easy to adjust EV compensation, it's particularly handy, on this all-auto camera, for under exposing by, say 2/3 of a stop when you feel the need to protect the highlights in a scene with extremes of brightness;

- carry it with you so that you don't miss a good shot - it's so small there's little reason not to. One of the small Lowepro belt cases is ideal if you don't want it in your pocket;

- and most importantly, have fun.

JR,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me get started off on the right foot. I'm leaving the D1 & D2 behind as we head into the Boundry Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Great shot!

And thanks for the tips. I'll apply them to my LX1 (which I absolutely adore).
