While sitting by the coal fire in our parlour last night, I suddenly thought that we had been visited by 'Old Nick' himself.

But he turned out to be just a bit of crumpled kitchen towel that had been used to clean the hearth!

Here is an overall view of the scene. These cold winter evenings, our 'home entertainment system' is a blazing coal fire and a glass or two of shiraz! I was sitting there just gazing into the fire (which was taking ages to get going), and the paper towel just formed a shape in my imagination. It was a bit of a rush to get upstairs, fit the lens to the camera and get down before the whole lot caught alight.
