He was a B-25 pilot at the end of WWII, but was an accomplished photographer so was made a Photo Officer after hostilities ended. Carried on as such, attending the Leica School in 1948, until the Berlin Airlift broke out (he was stationed in Wiesbaden at the time) upon which he resumed flying for another 15 years for SAC (Strategic Air Command). "Wetzlar, Home of the Leica School" (left -> right) My Dad Lt. William (Bill) Shimonkevitz, Capt. McCanna, T4 Bauman, and a Mr. Behnke (a Leica School Instructor?) It would certainly be a wonderful job to scan and edit these negatives individually. I am looking through his files, haven't seen these yet. My Dad was a 'home town' news and portrait photographer before WWII broke out and continued photography throughout his life so I have a lot to search through. Thanks for all the nice comments!
