Dannybuoy Posted March 5, 2013 Share #6 Posted March 5, 2013 Looking pretty good. Quite excessive CA on highlights. How you finding CA in general? From what I've see the M doesn't handle dark objects against bright backgrounds all that well. Always a difficult thing for cameras to tackle anyway. jaapv Posted March 5, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted March 5, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Even if it is just a web JPG, I cannot find any trace of the dreaded " CMos look" (whatever that may be) in the images, especially not in the one with lady walking the dog. How do you find in the full res ones, William?
theno23 Posted March 5, 2013 Share #8 Posted March 5, 2013 Yeah, I've not seen any "CMOS look", the colours are different, not really better or worse, just different. - Steve
chris_tribble Posted March 5, 2013 Share #9 Posted March 5, 2013 Yeah, I've not seen any "CMOS look", the colours are different, not really better or worse, just different. - Steve My experience with the production M (I now have mine!!!) :) is that there's little difference between the colours you get from the M and the M9 once you take into account light sources and the need to correct white balance to ensure that the scene is represented with some honesty (I deliberately don't say "accuracy" as for me, unless you're clinically shooting GretagMacbeth Color Check cards and measuring each square, colour remains a subjective business). What IS different it the dramatic improvement in WB under artificial light (and the overall consistency of AWB. This makes life a GREAT deal easier

johnbuckley Posted March 5, 2013 Share #16 Posted March 5, 2013 I've posted a gallery of M-240 images on the Zenfolio site linked below. But a short while ago, had a funny engagement on the street. I was walking about, taking some pictures, and when I took a photo of some construction workers, the fellow on the left seemed to get very exercised by my camera. Welcome, dear visitor! Popular Post johnbuckley Posted March 5, 2013 Popular Post Share #17 Posted March 5, 2013 Next thing I know, he was asking me, "Is that a Leica? A digital Leica? I've never seen one. Hell, what are you shooting at? Show me." He was a photographer, in his spare time, and wants a Leica! Welcome, dear visitor! billo101 Posted March 5, 2013 Share #18 Posted March 5, 2013 Definitely we do! Some of my first walks with the M and Nocti... Best Regards lik In my opinion, your first one is the best shot I've seen of the M240. b
lik Posted March 5, 2013 Share #19 Posted March 5, 2013 In my opinion, your first one is the best shot I've seen of the M240.b Thank you so much! I saw these tiny lights and said to myself, there will be no DSLR plus lens to take this picture, because of its bokeh at 0,95. This is really an opportunity for the new M... I will make a large 44" print for the office...
Guest WPalank Posted March 6, 2013 Share #20 Posted March 6, 2013 Even if it is just a web JPG, I cannot find any trace of the dreaded " CMos look" (whatever that may be) in the images, especially not in the one with lady walking the dog. How do you find in the full res ones, William? Jaap, I really don't understand the CMOS/CCD debate although I'm kind of getting it (and no one out there needs to explain it to me, thanks). Maybe it's because of the high ISO images I had to take as a result of the time of day I had allotted to get out and use the camera. In other word, I have almost no low ISO shots to compare. The camera arrival was really a surprise and my schedule is completely full right now during the day. Excuses, excuses... What I do find, in these high ISO situations, is that I really have to push the contrast to get what I want. The Monochrom and 9P only need a little contrast adjustment to go a long way to get that same result. Again, maybe at base ISO this may not happen. If someone put a gun to my head today and said, you can only keep one camera, your MM or M. It would be the MM without thinking about it. Maybe it's because it is the only camera I have used for the last 6 months and such little experience in working with color files. Just think it has to do with the lack of Bayer Array, immediate sharpness. This opinion may change in a week once i become more familiar with the beast. Thanks for listening.
