Default Last winter...

Payerne, Switz., Jan. 2007
The end of the row, waiting for the next child...
Incredible sadness in this situation, but I don't know if the photo convey this strong feeling...

D2 100 ISO | f8 | 1/500s | ř 28mm

Thanks for looking.

Default AW: Last winter...

for me it doesn't, Gérald; but, after reading your explanation it hit me just like it hit you on taking it; I think the problem is the perspective and the missing chance of finding relations; very hard to shoot, both emotionally and technically; maybe shooting from a point a bit lower and concentrating on the pet clinging onto the flowers and allowing a larger amount of the writing on the gravestone would have helped; then, I would have cropped the pic in order to get rid of the grave next to it; last comment: I really appreciate the great pics you are showing us in this forum

Gerald -

The sadness hit me immediately, but then I've seen similar "leavings" at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, so perhaps I was pre-conditioned.

Thanks Heiner.

I perfectly understand that this pic may not work. The fact it needs a text is sufficient proof of that.

Many problems... too cold to spend enough time ; I didn't want to show the text or the photograph behind the flowers (too recent); very harsh light due to the snow and the low sun... But I wouldn't crop off the other grave as it shows the "end of row" situation...

I should go back there (hoping that there will not be another grave yet...) and try again. Thanks again for your comments.

Stuart, thanks for commenting. You're right, somehow, I suppose that age and life experience bring some easy empathy... and I don't mean cheap!
