I ordered the tripod and big the big ball head 2/10 when the press release came. Now after 19 days it's actually in my hand....

 

Got quite of a schock since i've waited 372 days for the Leica M.... and still is waiting for handgrip, m-r converter etc.

 

I told the guys at the shop when i ordered it that i will be satisfied if i just get it before summer

 

Lets hope this is a trend

When I saw the announcement, I asked Leica Dealer to provide me details and ETA so far no news and las week decided to order the FLM original one, tripod, video 38 head ball with quick release, bag, etc .. Resulting order and shipment confirmed ..only difference is logo, black color and price.

What happened? Well the company that makes the tripods for Leica were 'on the ball' and actually made some before Leica said you could buy one. This goes against the normal Leica policy of saying you can buy something and then they start making it.

The Leica one does include a quick releseplate, and have different style of the knobs. So it's certainly not a simple rebadge. But i guess FLM is producing the Tripods.

 

I do know about FLM i think they are good, but look ugly. The Leica Tripod simply looks stunning. I have a company where i can withdraw all camera expenses. My last tripod lasted me for 20 years. So i really think it was a cheap and good looking investment.

 

I must say these "sucker you could have got a similar tripod for half the price messages", are quite rude and simply boring. I only tried to make a point that at least something seems to work in Leicas supply chain. Let's try to have a nicer tone and create a better community together...

That's nice for you. But there are plenty of others for whom the difference between "full price" and "equivalent product from same OEM manufacturer at half price" actually makes a difference. So I think it's legitimate to point out where the product actually comes from. The "sucker" part would be rude indeed, but I don't recall anyone saying that.

It's really a lovely tripod. it looks extremely good. I love the black brushed look on the legs. The ballhead looks also great and the full package are very light. Haven't tried all the knobs yet it will be very exiting to explore it upcoming 20 years or something
