Hello. I am a new member from Cordoba, in southern Spain.

I have been longing for a Leica M for many years, and the time has finally come.

I started taking pictures and developing film in the mid 80´s, while in college. I began with a russian Zenith reflex with a 50mm F2 lens. Later, I changed to a more advanced Minolta with a couple of mediocre zooms, still manual focus.

I became very interested in digital photography, and, after spending a huge amount of money for a Sony Mavica and getting very mediocre results, I went back to film, bought a Canon EOS 3, a 35mm F2, a 50mm F2 and the wonderful 85mm F1,8. Some time later, I tried a Canon 6D and realized that digital photography had come to age. Bought one and a HP 7960, a printer that had a 3 tone grey cartridge, so I could continue with my beloved BW photography. Since I only used primes, the small sensor made me purchase a couple of 24 mm lenses, so I could shoot with something close to the 35 mm on a full frame. One of them, a Sigma 24mm F1.4 gave me great results. By that time (2002/2003), digital reflex cameras were becoming huge in size, and I began to look for alternatives, but I found nothing satisfactory. I still remember how excited I became with the announcement of the EPSON RD1, but the camera was very expensive and seemed to have some flaws, at least according to reviewers. In late 2005, I bought the just announced EOS 5D, a full frame camera with a better price than those available at the moment. Since then I have been happily shooting it, mainly with the 35 and 85 mm lenses. I still thought that, for my style of photography, a reflex, specially at the new sizes, was overkill. So I became excited about and bought the Panasonix GF1 and the Fuji X100. Great cameras, but they did not match the 5D in terms of image quality, I think that due to their smaller sensor. (This is only my opinion, I am not a pixel peeper nor an expert in sharpness and resolution). A few months ago a friend let me his M9 and I fell in love. After many months thinking and rethinking again (it is by no means a small purchase), I went ahead and bought a M (240) and a couple of summicrons (35 F2 and 75 F2). I received everything yesterday and felt like I did the first time I focused my old Zenith reflex: a moment of magic. I want to share this moment with you all because I feel like I am at home, a home that had been my real one throughout my whole photographic journey without me realizing it. A very special moment.

Thank you for your attention.

Hello Ahumador. I live in Madrid and I had recently a similar experience . A Leica Monochrom along with a summilux 35mm arrived in the beginning of April. I was happy as a child in Christmas day. I hope that you enjoy your M240 as much as I enjoy my MM.

If you happen to come to Madrid contact me and we can go for a coffee or something.

BTW welcome!
