New there are only 3 models.

M-E, MM and the M (Type 240).

 

What camera are you currently using?

What type of photography are you planning to do?

- You're looking for an up-to-date digital rangefinder?

- You want to shoot color as well?

- Money is not the limiting factor?

 

If you can answer these questions with yes then get the Leica M Typ 240.

Second hand you could get a M8 or M8.2 if the budget isn't big(APS-H crop 1.3). Or a M9 or M9-P (Fullframe) or the latest model the new M (Typ 240) (Fullframe)

 

there are some differences between these models, but they are all rangefinders and all Leica, and all take the same lenses.

 

If you like a black and white only camera go for the Monochrom.

I bought an ME on EBay and it is magic. More fun than my Canons (G12 and 5D2) bought a 50mm Summicron to go with it. Doesn't stop there though...
