Default Wildfire

I took this shot Friday afternoon, Nov. 14 2008, looking east from downtown Santa Barbara toward "The Riviera". The aircraft is N923AU, a Lockheed P-3 Orion operated by Aero Union Corp. (V-Lux 1, ISO 200, 420mm)

Richard,

I hope you're safe up there.

We have the Sylmar fire down here. Even though I'm not close to the fire, we can certainly smell the smoke and see ashes settling on the cars.

Richard,

1) as Peter states: hope you're safe!
2) wonderful action shot, telling the whole story. The dried tree on the left is ominous, as it points to possible burning.

Richard -

Montecito is such a lovely place. Hopefully you, your loved ones and property are all well. Very good photo with excellent detail and depth.

Thank you, all.

Fortunately, the winds have been very calm since thursday so the fire has been contained. I think the fire crews and equipment will now be heading down to southern California to help with the fires there. The fire crews, both on the ground and in the air are to be commended for their efforts.
