With so much of Malaysian Borneo’s old growth forest having been razed for logging and for palm oil plantations we feared we might not see orangutans in the wild (our guide Denny was so good we were lucky enough to see 7), so we scheduled a stop at an orang rescue center where they bring orphaned orangs and try to ready them (over several years) to be reintroduced to the wild. This nearly adult male was displaying teeth, among other things. You can see many more in the Borneo photo gallery pages on our site.

Lothar & Ivan - Thank you.
Sharookh - Thank you. Actually Alice showed no interest at all until Gwen clearly liked it. Then Alice became interested. Through all that, Jennifer just yawned and went back to sleep. |
