Giant clams are not only delightful for their size, which we’ve seen up to two meters across, but also for the colors and patterns on the mantles as shown here. It was difficult chaing them but we got the shots. These are all near Sipadan and Mabul islands, Borneo, Malaysia. To see more go to the Borneo photo galleries on our site.

Arthur - Thank you. They must be edible. I base that on what we saw in Palau about a decade ago. The hotel had to place signs in several languages banning taking the clams to eat. Apparently, large, empty clam shells were showing up in hotel rooms. |
