Default A Gannets last flight

Leica M4P - Lens unknown - Fuji print film

Some 12 years ago when I could finally afford a second hand Leica I used it for the first time on a holiday in Scotland. Sango bay is on the far north west coast and walking on the beach I came across this sad sight.

Howard -

Once I get past how disturbing this is I must compliment you on excellent composition, light, color detail, framing and scan.

Yes it's been called disturbing before but I still think it makes a good subject. If the body hadn't been as fresh I wouldn't have photographed it and think of it this way out of all the thousands of dead Gannets that pass unnoticed this one has a measure of immortality even if it is only as an image.
