In my post yesterday in the People section, called, “Mermaid Ascending” (http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...ascending.html) I showed you Barbara while we were SCUBA diving off Malaysian Borneo. This photo is kind of the opposite of that one. The pygmy seahorse shown here is about 6MM long, and quite big for his species. Experienced “macro” divers suggest carrying a magnifying glass to be able to see the normal sized ones. A few days earlier I was never able to see a smaller one, partly due to its size, and partly due to its camouflage. I’ll continue showing you more dive photos, frequently strange and wonderful creatures. Later on, I’ll post some animal photos from the rainforest.

Ben - Thank you.
Mike - Thank you. The set-up was the Panasonic version of the C-Lux in a Panasonic enclosure good to 40 meters, mounted on a base with an extension and arm for a flash. The flash was on Inon 2000, firing slaved off the camera's built in flash via an optical cable. |

Stuart,
Magnificent! At first I thought that the red spots on the seahorse were strange, because if it didn't have them, it would have been perfectly camouflaged. But I see that one of the "branches" in the background also had red spots. I guess the seahorse was just on a wrong branch. Peter |

Peter -
Thank you. Every other pygmy seahorse environment I've ever seen had more red on the sea fan nodules, and between the camo, the venue and the size, the creature is normally most difficult to see. |
