In Chitabe, this lilac breasted roller (found throughout much of the continent) seemed to have just gotten up, and still had morning hair . You can see more of the animals in this area on the 1st and 2nd pages of Botswana photos on our site.

Arthur - Thank you. On the R8/DMR I was using the 80-200 with the APO 2X extender, probably zoomed tight. I THINK it is full frame, but I don't recall for certain. For most of the trip I used that set-up for wildlife, and the D2 for landscape, though each rig did visit the other's prime territory. |

Ah, the Rirac Bleasted Lorrel
. Botswana's national bird. You did well to capture it this way azgainst foliage, usually they are in the top of a leafless tree against the too-bright sky. |
