This delightful spot is one of my favorite weekend destinations and is just beginning to show some spring growth, and some new art has been added over the winter.

The grandest, most imposing piece, made of the fallen remnants of giant Redwoods is now exhibited near the entrance.

1. Overall view of the piece

2. Detail of how the artist chose to 'clad' one of the deep cracks to keep it from propagating - I thought the coarse wood and the silver-dollar sized copper 'coins' presented quite an abstract appearance.

Thank you for the kind words, hunebed & Stuart.

Forgive me for neglecting to mention that at first I posted only #2 since that was the image I wanted to show, but before pushing the 'submit' button I thought about it and concluded that noone would be able to make heads or tails out of a strange photograph featuring wood with metallic fish scales nailed to it, therefore #1 is more or less an explanation and an attempt to put it all into context to illustrate what #2 is part of. In all honesty, I didn't expend a lot of thought or time on #1 before or after I took the shot, just needed an image to establish the lay of the land for the viewers.

I am also taking the liberty of posting the same shot in color to better illustrate the deep and harmonious patina that unites the unfinished, weathered wood and the copper starting to turn colors as it ages outdoors.
