Default Blackberries (D2) [DA]

It is difficult timing a picture of growing fruit. Either not enough fruit is ripe, or a spray is passed its best. Here is my attempt today of fruit growing in my garden. D2 with Elpro D

David -

I consider this successful with its colors, focus, details and framing. Never forget that fruit seldom moves quickly, so at least you don't have to worry about blurring.

Stuart, thank you. I am pleased you thought the colours truthful.

Yes, I did use a tripod which is highly preferable with close up photography.

This is very nicely done--tack sharp, properly exposed, good color balance. I do think, however, that you would have a much stronger photo if taken late in the day with soft, warm, low sunlight on the berries. It would also work with first morning light. The kind of light you have here just isn't very flattering.

Brent, I appreciate your comments. I have been thinking about timing; unfortunately, the weather has been against me this past week. Much thunder and rain! But even on a fine day it is quite difficult getting the right angle of sun on a plant which does not remain in the sun all day. The challenge remains!

David

The colours look spot on on my monitor, too

We can get some great light here on the coastal plane in the early morning or evening, or maybe as the rainclouds form overhead - but as you say, having the bush in the wrong place is a real challenge !!

Looks very real to me... I can almost smell them.

Robert and Ed, thank you for your kind comments.

Having checked again, it seems that my blackberries all face the sun from mid-morning to mid afternoon when they benefit from the sun's rays. Rarely do any grow to catch early morning or late evening light.
