fotografr Posted July 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I biked over to our botanical gardens today to see what was blooming. Yesterday I was filing some flower shots on my external storage drive and realized I have thousands of flower images. I couldn't help wonder what the heck will I ever do with them all??? pauledell Posted July 18, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 18, 2014 Brent, A great series with the potpourri of flowers. Lovely colors and crisp sharpness. Paul
Michael Hiles Posted July 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) Lovely pictures, particularly the daisies. ...I couldn't help wonder what the heck will I ever do with them all??? A good and seldom asked question, generally applicable. The way of all flesh, I suspect. When I started, we had drawers full of 35mm slides or 4x6 prints (negatives long lost). Now we have hard drives full of digital images. Plus ça change... Most of our images have a quite short half-life. That is why I like prints, matted and framed and hung on a wall. More people get to see them, and they survive a little longer. In the same vein, I don't make many exposures. There needs to be a picture in front of me before I process things in my mind's eye and press the button. fotografr Posted July 18, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted July 18, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all for your comments. Michael, your approach is a good one. I have trouble being that selective about my shooting. Part of the problem for me is that I enjoy the process so much I feel compelled to make images daily.
Tom Barry Posted July 18, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 18, 2014 Nice set, for sure. I, too, like No. 4 best. My practice these days is to take a lot of photos - but I try to be ruthless in keeping only the ones I think might survive the test of time. Even so, the numbers accumulate. Iduna Posted July 18, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 18, 2014 Brent, a nice series and my favourites are 4-6. No 4 specially is a lovely conmposition.- I can very well understand that one has thousands of pictures. But no picture ever shows the same situation. Feeling is different and light also and natures is demanding to find a nice and differetn frame. Pleasure it is to try capturing the right moment and sharing it. The before mentioned survuival is then in the mind which is constantly busaý with new images. Do not throw or delete, this can be done by others...Thanks for sharing your daily exercise. Northwest Wanderer Posted July 18, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 18, 2014 Brent, Nice collection. #4 is by far the nicest I've seen in some time.
fotografr Posted July 19, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted July 19, 2014 Tom, Iduna and Bill--Thanks very much. Actually, #4 is also my strong favorite. Iduna, you are quite right and that's why even though I have thousands of images I'll just keep adding to the pile. Every one is different. In addition, for me it's the photographing that makes me stop to look more closely at these wonders and to appreciate them more than if I just glanced and kept walking.
