Default Sammy Snail

Within my 10 square metres is Sammy, who kindly paused (well, I think he paused..) to pose for this photograph.

Digilux 2 with Elpro - D, iso 100, 6-bar jpeg.

Robert -

Very nice capture with very nice detail, focus & bokeh. Perhaps a primer for us all on stop-action photography. When we were in the Cappadoccia region of Turkey a pair of young boys offered to guide us to some early Christian cave-churches high up in the walls of a canyon. On the way down they filled their pockets with snails to take home to eat. the boys were fast enough to catch the snails.

Uwe + Leicamann - Thank you for your kind comments - he was blushing a little !!

Brent - I'm afraid he wasn't 'fast food' !!

Stuart - lucky he wan't one of the dreaded High Speed Snails of Dartmoor - they've been known to drive a man mad by leaping out of the bog and circling at high speed, covering their victim with slime....

What a great picture. A fascinating subject, well observed and nicely framed. Terrific level of detail adds to the interest.

Well, not that it is of any ones interest perhaps but do you have a model release? I got the impression that your subject is getting more and more attention and I am just puzzled....

Sharp is when you can see the cobwebs next to the snail and remnants of the flower hanging in it, and this has it. Incredible photo, I wonder how the plant can support the weight of the snail.

Richard and Al

Thank you for your kind comments - Richard, apparently Sammy is on a diet this week - he's working his way through a bed of lettuice with several of his slug friends !!

I think he prepares himself for his next shooting. It's crucial for him to stay in shape, modeling is a highly competitive business...
