EXOTIC SLIPPER ORCHID

Nicely done, except the flash or should I say the light from the flash is too harsh.

We also had the same issues at the Vancouver Orchid Society constantly having its show and sale at the Curling rink in Richmond, its has horrid fluorescent light... it makes photography very challenging as well as the myriad of people with their P&S cameras where they never turn off that ^%$^& flash......anyhow, the good news is this year its happening at the new Floral Hall , which has modern natural light.

Orchids will reveal themselves in all their subtle glory in a soft subdued light. Try to use a bounce light from another source, or bounce it off the ceiling.

With the perfect light conditions, you'd be amazed at the results your digital camera will come up with.

My apologies for the monologue

Thanks for sharing

Oh before I forget, is that your orchid,? if so, congrats!!

Thank you for all that info. I wonder if there is a way to soften it now in post processing.

Caryl

You mean the bloom is finished:confused:

Post processing , that would be someone like Deke McClelland

dekeOnline

he would be the one to ask and is the absolute best I know

Remember also that the San Francisco Orchid Society is STILL hosting he Orchid Expo, which goes on until this Sunday.. if you have the time and $45.00.. you'll be blown away....not just the beauty but the fragrances.... and you will find tons of " Lady's Slippers

Pacific Orchid Exposition

if you have the means and a bit of coin... then I would say 'don't miss it'

Its happening at the Fort Mason Center

Ahhhh:D So will be expecting alot more from you..so how was the show?

Any favorites?

There will be I believe 3 reps coming up to Vancouver on the 24th of March.

Didi you see their tour to Taiwan?. That looked really interesting!!

As for the photoshop thing, you might want to look at this, its a very common issue

There is even a term that we use in studio lighting called "soft box"..that makes the light bright , but diffuse and not glaring. Dean used to post incredible shots with teh Digilux 1 using some pretty advanced lighting techniques.. I believe his set up was , 3 softboxes, 3 Nikon Strobes all linked to the camera, and all linked to fire concurrently in microseconds( excuse me I am blathering on :)

Anyhow glad you got to the show.

Thank you, John, for all that info. We saw the Taiwan people but have no interest in traveling there. I like the slipper orchids best. I have only a few shots that I like so there isn't much to post.

Thank you Paul for your nice comment
