My congratulations also to Ivan, Brian, and Robert, and my deepest thanks to both Carl and Ivan for arranging such a pleasant event.
I have to add that I was present when Robert took his shot of the rather tense-looking woman and was amazed that the moment Robert had tripped the shutter her face broke into the widest and sunniest ear-to-ear smile I think I've ever seen! It was utterly surprising and a joy to behold. Ahem <coughs politely behind hand> I presume that entry number 11 was actually that "Gentleman Amateur, Leica Lout and clever devil" Bill Palmer rather than Bill Parsons, Carl ... ? ![]() Pete.

Firstly congratulations to Carl on all the work and effort needed to set up and make everything run, which is no inconsiderable challenge in itself.
Next congratulations to Ivan for an outstanding entry and thanks for his hospitality on Malta, making this one of the most fun challenges ever. He's a worthy winner of the D-Lux 4 and I'm sure it'll be put to good use. (Try iso 2500, b+w jpegs.... )Congratulations to Brian, for his well seen and meticulously presented 2nd place. Mine was a single frame shot by reflexes, pretty much as it came out of the camera, of a lady watching the religious event taking place in the square below. Taken with M8.2 at iso 160, 1.4 Summilux wide open (wish I'd had a ND filter as well, just to cool down the exposure a bit ) but as Pete says, you shoud have seen the smile that followed !!Like James says, everyone's a winner this year, it was a great place to photograph and the competition and company was as great as ever.

Thank you all. ..
Elaine and Ivor of Red Dot Cameras. Very generous of you. Carl for his excellent work and anyone else who might have helped from behind the scenes. All those who did make it to Malta. It was a pleasure meeting and I'll never forget you all. Thank you also for the lovely entries. It really wasn't easy to vote for three entries. Brian and Robert, well done you guys. Last but not least, to all members who voted for my entry. Very nice of you and it's very much appreciated. Venice 2010 - Wish I could make it there. If not, I wish you all to have a very good time. Thank you all once again. ![]()

Congratulations to Ivan, Brian and Robert and I hope you enjoy the D-Lux 4 Ivan. It's a great little camera and I look forward to seeing some postings of the images you take with it.
Once again, thanks to everyone who made the weekend so enjoyable and we will certainly do our best to be in Venice. Best regards, Tom Photography by Tom Lane |

Hearty congratulations to Ivan, Brian, and Robert the winners and to all the other participants, winners in there own right. A truly fun time and a fine bunch of photos to prove it.

My most heartfelt congratulations to Ivan for a cracking winning shot, and to Brian and Robert for excellent runner-up entries. My thanks also for those who voted for my shot - even if I did forget to give it a title! This was a very high standard this year and I am delighted to see the "One" go from strength to strength.
Roll on Venice!! ![]() Regards, Bill

I just started a thread for the other pictures from the competition roll, which didn't make it first choice.
