Leica XV Auto Review

I suspect a good workaround (this works on all other Leicas I've tried) is to half press the shutter button, instantly cancelling the auto review.

It is not working really well this way. If you press instantly after capturing the image the shutter half way again, different behaviors of the camera can show up. With Autofocus the image freezes/pumps because of the AF and with manual focus it happens that the displayed image stays on as long you press the shutter half way.

There is the better workaround sometimes just to wait until the image disappears by itself.

With AF I have found a half press after shooting cancels review and AF works immediately again ....... consistent and with no glitches.

With manual there appears to be an unavoidable 0.5 sec delay even with cancelling by half shutter press or turning the focussing ring .... but I'm not sure it's much of an issue as you are hardly likely to be taking shots and refocussing in manual that rapidly anyway.

In both modes you can take a second shot instantly, whatever the display is doing ...... so in fast moving situations I just keep both eyes open and fire away depending on what the non-viewfinder eye is seeing ........ framing and focus will not have shifted that much in the intervening time., and at least you don't miss the moment.

These are situations where you really need an optical viewfinder with digital overlay ..... :o

..... oh ...... and the main problem is there is NO 'Autoreview Off' choice on the menu .....

I agree that it's a glitch while the writing to the card. It's a basic bug aside from the intended Auto Review settings, even at "Off"

To prove this, set your camera to single exposure, click a pic, then immediately press the shutter half way as you pan (left or right, doesn't matter) ...because it's still writing, camera freezes mid pan as well.
